Boat Race 2014

Over the past year I developed a new liking towards sport photography.  I covered a few games for Youth Football Scotland, a box night in the Beach Ballroom, and last Saturday – a boat race.  Rowing proved to be least dynamic and diverse from all those sports, but nevertheless still amazing to watch, especially after observing emotional reactions of participants and viewers.  You will be able to see for yourself, as I captured a moment when one of the winners was thrown to ice-cold water by her team mates, and she was later hugged by her ecstatic mum!

Fashion blogger

Recently I talked about some technical glitches I had with my blog; well, it seems this is a more global issue and had nothing to do with my IT skills.  Wordpress can’t manage, but I will not let that to put me off blogging any longer. Hence today’s post:)

Last week I had a chance to work with a fashion blogger, Angelika eM.  Angelika was looking for a photographer, who could capture her creations.  We went out on a freezing but sunny afternoon to Seaton Park in Aberdeen.  Thanks to the sun I was able to capture some mesmerizing sun flare on some of the photos; later overcast helped with beautiful portraits without harsh shadows.  Although I could not feel my fingers afterwards, it was totally worth it. Check it out!

I become The Gaudie’s Photo editor!

At first, a few words of explanation.  I neglected this blog over last few months, as it wasn’t working properly.  It seems that my posts were reaching only a very few of you who subscribed to mailing lists and notifications.  I could not tell what what was the issue; we shall see if it resolved itself.

Meantime some of you might noticed, that I changed my name and url address with it. Hopefully it will not add to more technical glitches.

However the post was supposed to tell you the exciting news – I become a new Photo Editor of amazing student’s paper “The Gaudie”.  The paper runs for almost 80 years (we are going to celebrate this anniversary next year), and I am really proud that I can become a part of that history 🙂

As a teaser, I am posting a snapshot of my picture on the front cover of the latest issue, and if you are interested enough you can follow a link below to the website.

Mysterious woman with guitar

I absolutely love shooting themed photographs!  Costumes,  elaborate preps, mystical scenery…however sometimes one simple thing is enough.  Guitar is one of my favourite preps, and gives the shots simplicity, but at the same time this specific vibe.  Check for yourself!   _DSC0247 _DSC0340 _DSC0430 _DSC0467 _DSC0643 _DSC0678 _DSC0704 _DSC0732 _DSC0570 _DSC0605 _DSC0151 _DSC0557 _DSC0757 _DSC0788 _DSC0807 _DSC0856_DSC0880-Edit-2

Waiting to be found or Message in the bottle ♥

Today I present a themed couple’s shoot.  The idea behind was to show a little story how the two hearts met.

In the fiction world, one lost soul would write a note, lock it in the bottle, and gave it to the fate of the sea.  The right person would find the note, rescue the lonely heart, and everyone would live happily ever after.

Reality does not have to be that far off – it is just using different means…The message is sent electronically, and later the two people meet on a dry land.

The message in the bottle became a universal symbol of longines, willingness to be found by the right person, and hope.

The two you see on my pictures found themselves on time, so wish them good luck!

It’s a baby boy!

Ula came in for her pregnancy photoshoot in April.  She came back this time to take some photographs of her baby boy.  He was the cutest!  Surprisingly, although he was just over 2 weeks old, he wouldn’t sleep at all, that’s why we don’t have any dreaming baby photos;)  He behaved well, his mum was surprised how little he cried while we changed him from position to position, look for yourself!_DSC7676 _DSC7325 _DSC7322 _DSC7302 _DSC7270 f _DSC7356 _DSC7757 _DSC7751 _DSC7735 _DSC7711 l

Duthie Park

One of my friends noticed that I do not post landscapes or nature photography, and asked me whether I shoot only people.  It actually surprised me a bit, as I travel a lot, and usually take so many photographs of places, that I don’t even have the time to edit them all;)  True that, I hardly ever share my personal travel photography.  I have decided to change that over next few weeks and share with you photos I took on my trips to China, Morocco, and other exotic places.  For now I will bring my surroundings a little bit closer to you, and show you how Aberdeen and Scotland look through my eyes. duthie 1 duthie 2 duthie 6 duthie 5 duthie 3 duthie 4
